The Rincon de la Vieja National Park is located in the northwest of Costa Rica. The volcano is the largest one in the country's northwest and it contains over 8 eruptive vents located within a 15-kilometer-wide caldera. The last major eruption of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano occurred about 3,500 years ago and this National Park has one of the largest geothermal electricity generation projects in Costa Rica. Tourists visit the area for the hot springs, spectacular views, great biodiversity and more. At Rincon de la Vieja National Park you can see Yellowstone-like geothermal sites.
